[The following profile is a combined synthesis between the writings of Gideon Maxime and {Dr Felix Blake}]
Liam Teague was born in 1975 and had his early beginning in the Steelband world when he was a student of Pleasantville Senior Comprehensive School, in San Fernando.
His rise in the music world however came in 1986 when he began to play with the Motown steelband in the Music [Festival] Pan is Beautiful VI.
In 1987 he copped the Fernandez trophy in the Trinidad and Tobago Music Festival playing Fire and Steel. This was for persons 15 years and under.
In the school's Steelband Music Festival, he ...placed in the preliminary but did not get into the finals. However, playing Gypsy Overture in the San Fernando Seventh Music Festival, he won the competition.
In 1988 he placed 2nd in the Teen Talent Finals having played Fire and Steel and Gypsy Overture. He was the top musician at San Fest that year in the Junior Arts Festival. Later that same year he was voted the best Pannist on Scouting for Talent.
In 1989 he won the Schools Steelband Music Festival with his own composition Fire Bird and he was also 2nd in the All Star show of Scouting for Talent with the piece entitled Mr Magic.
In 1990 Liam arranged for the steelband Hillside Symphony for Panorama; the selection Fete by Aloes.
In the 1991 Music Festival for schools Liam was again victorious with his own composition entitled A Visit to Hell; while in the 1992 Steelband Music Festival he tied for first place with this same selection with Chantal Esdelle.
At present (1996) Liam is studying at the Northern Illinois University majoring in pan.
He has completed his course in ethnomusicology and has played with the University's Philharmonic Orchestra.
Liam in his short career has composed pieces entitled Firebird, Emotions, Visit to Hell and Hands like Lightening.
{Official recognition of Liam's undoubted talents has brought invitations to perform before visiting dignitaries to Trinidad and Tobago, among them the president of Venezuela and the governor-general of Jamaica.}
This young musician is set in years to come to be one of the most outstanding pannists of Trinidad and Tobago.
